On the evening of Friday 19 April, in Holy Trinity church in Bottisham, people from the five villages of the Anglesey Group welcomed our new vicar, Rev’d Canon Malcolm Eric (Max) Osborne. Max was officially installed and inducted by Bishop Dagmar, Bishop of Huntingdon and acting Bishop of Ely, in a service that included age-old symbolism – receiving the church key, ringing a bell in the belfry – and informal greetings from people representing organisations throughout our parishes. The church was full, the choir sang joyfully, and over 100 people made their way after the service to the Sports and Social Club for refreshments and to make use of the bar. Max’s friends and family had travelled from previous parishes and elsewhere to support him. It was a very convivial event which gives us much to look forward to when Max and family are able to take up residence in the new vicarage in Bottisham in July and properly join us in the benefice. Thanks are due to everyone involved in planning and arranging the service and reception – a huge team effort, made easier as we have got used to working together during the vacancy. Our church services in the five churches are listed elsewhere and go ahead thanks to the support of retired clergy and lay ministers. You are welcome to attend services in any church.
