Celebration of St Mary Magdalen – A Day of Prayer

Monday 22nd July 6am – 6pm

As part of our Tenpenny Pledge and our renewed commitment to pray as part of journey together as a benefice there will be a day of prayer on the day at Thorrington on the day that the Church celebrates St Mary Magdalen, Monday 22nd July.

You can look on this as a mini retreat to pray and reflect on Mary Magdalen as an example for your own walk with God but it will also be a day to pray for St Mary Magdalen church, the villages of Frating and Thorrington and the wider benefice as we seek to renew our lives together.

St Mary Magdalen Church will be from 6.00am-6.00pm with a number of short services and reflections during the day and prayer stations/activities to help focus your thoughts and prayer available all day.

The reflections and prayer activities will be based on how Mary Magdalen

· Received healing of body, mind and spirit

· Supported Jesus financially and emotionally

· Was present at the crucifixion

· Was the first to see the resurrected Jesus

· Was sent to tell others about the risen Jesus

6.00am Day-Start Prayer

7.30am Light Breakfast available

9.00am Morning Prayer

10.00am Guided meditation on Mary’s healing

12.00pm Guided meditation on Mary’s support for Jesus

12.30pm Midday Prayer

1.00pm Bring your own lunch

2.00pm Guided meditation on Mary at Jesus’ crucifixion

3.30pm Evening Prayer

4.00pm Godly Play Reflection on Mary meeting the resurrected Christ

4.30pm Tea and cake

5.00pm Waiting on God – How do we tell others?

6.00pm Night Time Holy Communion

As part of our commitment to pray and as part of journey together as a benefice we will be holding a day of prayer on the day the Church celebrates St Mary Magdalen, Monday 22nd July. The format will be similar to the Day of Prayer we held during Holy Week. The church will be open all day with a number of short services and reflections. There will be prayer stations set up to help us reflect on how Mary Magdalen

· Received healing of body, mind and spirit

· Supported Jesus financially and emotionally

· Was present at the crucifixion

· Was the first to see the resurrected Jesus

· Was the first person to tell others about him.
