About Us

The Seatallan Benefice is comprised of four parishes from Beckermet in the north, down through Calderbridge, to Seascale in the south, then across and up the valley from Gosforth to Wasdale Head. It is part of the South Calder Mission Community along with the Western Lake District Benefice which sits to the south. There are eight church buildings in the benefice, some of which are home to Viking and Anglo-Saxon monuments and carvings including the famous Viking Cross at Gosforth.  The benefice boosts England's highest mountain, deepest lake and smallest church. And is home to Sellafield Nuclear Reprocessing Plant which is at the heart of economy in this part of North West England.
