About Us

The Seven Sowers Benefice comprises seven rural churches committed to “Sowing the Seed of the Gospel of Jesus”. Set close to the Blackdown Hills the parishes are situated geographically on either side of the A358 between Taunton and Ilminster in Somerset. The benefice comprises Beercrocombe, Curry Mallet, Staple Fitzpaine, Orchard Portman, Hatch Beauchamp, West Hatch and Stoke St Mary (with Thurlbear). Each village has a strong farming heritage. 

In addition, the Benefice has three popular church schools located at Curry Mallet, Hatch Beauchamp and Thurlbear and there are five very well maintained village halls offering a variety of local clubs and organisations.
