St Martin's Chipping Ongar

We should like to extend a very warm welcome to you from all of us here at St Martin's.

We hope you will find all the information you need about us on these pages, whether you are thinking of visiting us, or are already a member of our church community. We strive to create places of Christian faith and worship in our beautiful building, which was built nearly 1000 years ago.

An important element in our reaching out to our local community is making the church building available each day for those who wish to visit for whatever reason. St Martin's is normally open Sunday to Friday from 10.00am to 4pm and on Saturdays from 10.00am to 12noon.

Children are welcome to all of our services and especially to our Family orientated services on the first and third Sunday at 10.30am.

We are working closely with the other Anglican churches in the Ongar Mission and Ministry Unit towards a collaborative ministry. With our brothers and sisters in the Roman Catholic and United Reformed Churches and other Anglican churches in the area, we form Churches Together in Ongar.

If you would like any further information please do not hesitate to contact our Parish Priest Hazel Aucken whose details appear on our Get in Touch Page

Safeguarding

Our parish of Chipping Ongar w Shelley is committed to safeguarding children, young people and adults from harm. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO).
Our Diocese of Chelmsford’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor who advises our PSO. If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact the PSO [Lisa Wickstead - [email protected]] or the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor [http://www.chelmsford.anglican.org/safeguarding/safeguarding-contacts]. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority’s children or adult social care services."
